We liked to sit around the fire and learn about how the Indians gathered and ate their food. We even got to ground some corn for ourselves, and then they made us corn cakes.
After "snack" we went and learned how they used the yucca for needle and thread and how they used various kinds of plants to make tools and medicines.
Then we made it to the Teepee. We learned about the various roles that men and women had in the tribe. The women were the leaders and owned the homes. GIRL POWER! Men weren't chiefs until the European settlers came and wanted to talk to men. (Whatever!)
Our guide told us story about how the coyote got its name using a real coyote skin.
Then we went back and looked at all the birds and finally the bird houses on our way out.
